Summary of July 2024 LinkedIn Content Efforts and Results

Summary of July 2024 LinkedIn Content Efforts and Results

Overall Performance in July 2024:

  • Total Impressions: 384,334
  • Total Engagements: 6,011
  • Average Impressions per Day: 12,398
  • Average Engagements per Day: 194

July was a personal record in every metric I track on LinkedIn. So much of a record, it will be difficult to beat the record until my account has grown substantially. While I did not post every day in July, I did post most days. 24 days to be exact. That is posting about 77% of the days of the month. If you back out my biggest post of the month (I talk through it below) as an outlier, create additional content like my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th most successful posts, and increase frequency… I could absolutely reach July’s record again and possibly beat it. The reality is I likely do not have time for that, which is OK too.

Let’s talk about the top 4 posts and why they performed so well. We will start with #3 and #4 because of their similarities.

#3 and #4 - Sales Tactic Discussions

#4 - Post on July 11, 2024

  • Engagements: 284
  • Impressions: 16,481

#3 - Post on July 5, 2024

  • Engagements: 285
  • Impressions: 17,261
Both of these posts were very similar. I called out fundamentally defective sales strategies. LinkedIn has A LOT of sales professionals on the platform. I actually used to be on prior to BattlBox. On one of the posts, I called out a very ineffective strategy. On the other, I shared an example of a sales email I received and asked for feedback. Because of my past profession of building sales teams, I think I offer a unique approach to sales. My sales posts are the most consistent type of post I have when it comes to engagement.

#2 - Satire Post (or so I thought)

This one is interesting. While I was up at Foxwoods with the ASOM crew, Bryan told me about Mark Wahlberg’s daily schedule that he had posted a couple of years ago. We pulled it up and had a good laugh. I then told Bryan, ‘this is going to be one of my posts next week’. To me, it was clearly satire. I would quickly find out that many thought it was real.

Off the jump, the post was performing well. There was a MAJOR problem though, some of the comments were actually supportive of the wild schedule I had posted. How could anyone think this was real? I quickly realized this post had blurred the lines between reality and satire for LinkedIn. You know what I am talking about? Those LinkedIn Lunatics that post outlandish stuff in an attempt to… well I do not know exactly their point if I am being honest. I just know these folks are normally selling a course (or selling something) that will get you to ‘their level’. It’s not unique to LinkedIn, you see it on all social media channels. Either way, it's the absolute worst! Somehow my satirical post was being lumped in with the lunatics.

So much so, that I woke up in the morning to a bunch of texts from friends (Yes, this means I did not wake up at 2:30 am lol) sending me a link to Reddit where my post was featured in the subreddit LinkedIn Lunatics

My takeaway here is that I likely will be making some blurred-line satire posts again soon lol.

#1 - In America, we settle our differences at the BattlBox.

I knew this one was going to perform well. This is not something that you replicate and scale. This was pure timing and opportunity. The President accidentally said BattlBox twice in a speed (instead of Ballot Box). The only challenge was figuring out how to take advantage of the situation while ALSO staying clear of politics (something most brands should steer clear from in general).  This post actually lead me to do an article a couple of weeks ago that can be found here:

July 2024 on LinkedIn was a month of record-breaking performance, driven by a consistent posting strategy and content that resonated with my audience. My most successful posts focused on critiquing sales tactics and playing with satire—two themes that clearly struck a chord. The posts that called out ineffective sales strategies and shared my unique approach to sales generated significant engagement, proving that there’s a real appetite for this type of content. Another post, initially intended as satire, blurred the lines and sparked conversations, showing the power of playful content when done right. These posts are replicable and scalable, providing a strong foundation for continued growth and engagement on the platform.
